With a master’s degree in musculoskeletal rehabilitation at University of Genoa in 2005, he earned his PhD at the at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, in 2016.
Since 2012 he is Professor in Physiotherapy and Head of the Rehabilitation Research Laboratory 2rLab and Co-director of Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland.
He is founder and member of the scientific committee of the Italian Society of Physiotherapy (SIF).
With a publication record of over 100 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, his research focuses on the integration of neurophysiological and clinical research to improve the assessment and the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.
Prof. Barbero main interest is in contributions focusing on innovative treatment methodologies, advanced assessment approaches, and clinical evidence impacting the different fields of the physiotherapy practice.
